REFERENCE FOR MODELERS

After the succesful 2000 season, the F2001 was, for the first time, quick out of the box. The new FIA technical regulations for safety and the wind tunnel discoveries made the car look different with its low nose and longer sidepods. During the season, the F2001 will prove to be the best handling car of the field and this was more than enough to beat the powerful BMW engine of the Williams and the McLaren. Below, the best sector times on tracks as different as Hockenheim and Hongaroring show the performance of the cars in different situations. In the 2 first sectors of Hockenheim, only acceleration and top speed, the Williams cars are far ahead of the F2001, which is closer in the stadium. Different story in the Hongaroring, where power doesn't make a big advantage, with the F2001 on the top.
